The landscape is characterised by vineyards and orchards, the great variety of residential quarters as well as professional opportunities in the economic and technology location of Stuttgart ensure excellent private and professional development opportunities. Family friendliness is just as important in the city as mobility, which is guaranteed by the international airport and the connection to the European high-speed rail network. A wide range of theatres and music venues are just as attractive as the city centre with its famous Otto Dix collection, Solitude Palace, Wilhelma or Neckar Park. Large corporations as well as medium-sized companies offer attractive job and career opportunities, especially for specialists and executives from the technical, scientific and knowledge-based fields. Established industries in the city's commercial centres include automotive and mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and IT, creative industries, logistics and finance. Particularly promising: the increasing number of companies in the field of renewable energies, biotechnology and nanotechnology.
The hilly city with its good infrastructure is particularly popular with high-tech companies. Stuttgart's stock exchange is the second most important stock exchange location in Germany. Among others, the following companies have their headquarters in the city:
- Württembergische Insurance
- Wolf & Müller
With about 400 hectares of vineyards, which corresponds to more than two percent of the city's area, Stuttgart is still one of the largest wine-growing communities in the country. The largest part is produced by a total of five vintners' cooperatives.
